Commercial-private sector tackles 3 big events abroad. Hopes to push rice exports past 8 million tons

Ms. Jittima Srithaporn, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Foreign Trade, revealed that during September – October 2023, the Department of Foreign Trade will organize delegations to travel to attend 3 international trade fairs abroad, including Fine Food Australia. 2023 at Sydney, Commonwealth of Australia Between 11 – 14 September 2023, which is the largest food and beverage trade show on the Australian continent.

China – ASEAN Expo in Nanning Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region People’s Republic of China Between 16 – 19 September 2023, which is an international expo that showcases products and services for trade.

Cooperation in investment and tourism in the China-ASEAN region and ANUGA 2023 in Cologne. Federal Republic of Germany Between 7 – 11 October 2023, which is the world’s largest international food and beverage trade show.

There will be an exhibition of samples of various types of Thai rice, such as Thai jasmine rice, parboiled rice, sticky rice, as well as rice with special characteristics such as Riceberry rice, Sangyod rice, Hom Nin rice, and KB43 rice, etc., and a demonstration of cooking Thai jasmine rice. and Thai rice along with cooking Thai food for visitors to the department’s booth to try and taste in order to get to know and understand the taste and uniqueness of Thai jasmine rice and Thai rice as well.

“All 3 such trade fairs are held in countries that are important markets for Thai rice. like Australia Thailand has always held the number 1 share in the Australian rice market. China is a large rice import market. Thailand exports approximately 0.6 – 0.7 million tons of rice to China per year, ranking fifth among the Thai and German rice export markets. which is the center and plays an important economic role in Europe Consumers have high purchasing power. Germany is therefore a market for good quality rice in Thailand. and is a gateway to expanding the Thai rice market in Europe and the CIS countries.”
Therefore, participating in Fine Food Australia 2023, China – ASEAN Expo and ANUGA 2023 is considered a good opportunity and channel for the Department. To promote Thai rice abroad to create awareness, remember and believe in the quality, standards and safety of Thai rice. This will help maintain market share and stimulate increased purchases of Thai rice. This will result in Thai rice exports in 2023 being as expected at 8 million tons.
